How did you decide to go into your field?
In my early 20’s I was diagnosed with early-stage Crohn’s disease. I was offered pharmaceuticals, surgery, and a poor prognosis. My gut told me “There must be another way,” and a friend suggested acupuncture. With regular acupuncture sessions and diet modifications, my symptoms resolved, but more importantly, I gained a new perspective on the profound healing potential inherent in all of us. I became a firm believer in the power of Chinese medicine. When I was ready for a career change, I knew what I wanted to do!
What makes you excited about your work?
My passion is educating people about the benefits of Chinese medicine and exploring ways to integrate tiny rituals of self-care into everyday living. Ultimately, my joy is being a source of support and a witness to someone’s healing journey, whether it’s freedom from pain and stress, transitioning careers, or transforming limiting habits and beliefs. My work is about helping people cultivate their ideal vision of health and happiness.
What makes you unique in your field?
My education and experience have gifted me with an ability to integrate many models of healthcare and meld perspectives of what health and healing signify. I meet individuals “where they’re at” which often entails coordinating and incorporating multi-disciplinary approaches to healing.
Favorite musician? Favorite food? Favorite TV show this year?
David Byrne, apples, ummm.. If the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher was a series, that would be my fave. Love me some wizarding detectives.
