B12 is important for energy, mood and focus. However, this is a common vitamin to be deficient in due to a multitude of reasons. B12 deficiency can be caused by: low absorption, low stomach acid, use of antacids, or limited exposure. People who consume limited animal products or are vegetarian/vegan can be prone to limited exposure. It can also be due to genetics; some people are not able to methylate the B12 that they are exposed to, which is necessary to process it.
