WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NATUROPATHS AND HOMEOPATHS?
- Naturopathic Doctors can use homeopathy, but are also trained in a wide range of other
treatment modalities. - Homeopaths are only trained in homeopathy and are not licensed as physicians.
IS NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE SAFE?
- Yes! Naturopathic Medicine works holistically and we try to start with the least forceful
intervention first. That means we prefer to start with diet and lifestyle changes and
prevention, before things like surgery or other interventions are necessary.
IS NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE ANTI-CONVENTIONAL MEDICINE?
- No. Naturopathic medicine works hand in hand with many more conventional medical
practices, like medication and surgery. In fact, Naturopathic Physicians can prescribe
certain pharmaceuticals and perform other interventions as needed and allowed by their
license. We also work with other medical professionals including specialists and primary
care doctors.
HOW ARE NATUROPATHIC DOCTORS TRAINED?
Naturopathic Doctors must first finish a four year undergraduate degree. After that, they
attend an accredited four- year Naturopathic Medical School where they undergo
training in diagnosis and treatment of diseases, as well as disease prevention.
Treatment modalities include clinical nutrition, homeopathic medicine, botanical
medicine, physical medicine, pharmaceutical medicine, and counseling. Training
includes clinical experience with patients under the supervision of licensed professionals.
