Dr. Danielle’s Fire Cider Recipe

Making Fire Cider

Benefits of Fire Cider

Fire cider is a potent herbal tonic traditionally made with apple cider vinegar, garlic, ginger, horseradish, cayenne pepper, and other spices. It is known for its potential health benefits, particularly in boosting the immune system and promoting digestion. The combination of ingredients helps to stimulate circulation, reduce inflammation, and support detoxification. Fire cider is also believed to have antimicrobial properties, making it useful for fighting off colds and flus.

Ingredients

  • 1 onion
  • 10 cloves of garlic
  • Lemon/ orange slices
  • Ginger root
  • Horseradish root
  • Turmeric root
  • Jalapeno, Cayenne, Habenero peppers (or just a couple of one of them)
  • Rosemary and/or Thyme sprigs- the fresh herb
  • Whole peppercorns
  • Cinnamon sticks
  • Allspice berries
  • Whole cloves
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Raw, local honey

Directions

  1. Rough chop the onion, garlic, ginger, horseradish, turmeric, and peppers (make sure to wear gloves during the spicy peppers or wash youur hands really well afterwards). I also leave the seeds with the peppers.
  2. Add plants to some big glass jars. Fill up to top with apple cider vinegar.
  3. Let sit for at least 2 weeks; shaking daily.
  4. After 2 weeks, pour off the vinegar and mix with honey to taste.
  5. You’ve made fire cider! Enjoy daily, or as needed for colds and flus.

Notes

Try to buy organic, so you’re not giving yourself pestacides as you’re trying to use this for immune support.

If you get the apple cider with the mother in it, you get the added benefit of having probiotics with your shots.

If you get the raw, local honey, you get the nice sugar to make the cider not as spicy, but also benefits of exposing yourself to local pollen, which can help with allergies.

I like to save the herbs and solids from the apple cider vinegar pour off, and use it for homemade bone and veggie broths. You can also make it into a paste for marinating.

If you don’t want to try making this yourself, Bio Vegetarian is a supplement that you can pick up from the office that is very similar!
