HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Our goal is to resolve your issue. In addition, we give you the tools you need to prevent future episodes. The number of treatments needed varies for each individual. It depends on the nature and duration of the issue. Acute or mild conditions typically resolve quickly (2-4 treatments), while chronic or severe conditions require a longer treatment plan (8-12 treatments).
We will work with you to create an individualized care plan based on your history and condition, giving you the care and attention you deserve to get you back to optimal health and performance quickly. This requires getting to the root cause of your condition with a very detailed exam, and then we will be your guide giving you the tools you need to decrease your pain outside of the clinic to help you build healthy habits and conquer your goals. Your treatment may include some combination of joint manipulation, soft tissue treatment, heat, cupping or dermal traction, and rehabilitation exercises to get you out of pain, help restore function, and reduce future injury risk.
Preventative and wellness visits are a great way to maintain health, optimize athletic performance and reduce stress. Treatment plans for maintenance chiropractic are based on the individual’s needs, and frequencies of these treatments vary from once a week to once a quarter.
WHAT IS A CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENT?
An adjustment involves a very quick force applied to a joint at the end range of its motion. The pop or crack noise is the result of a pressure change within the joint capsule and is not necessary for a successful adjustment. The purpose of joint manipulation is to achieve better motion rather than to “re-align” the spine or joint. Joint manipulation causes a short-term change in the joint capsule and its surrounding tissues, which can provide pain relief and improved function. Because the benefits are relatively short-lived, using that small window of opportunity to implement movement and exercises leads to more long-term benefits. Movement is medicine, after all!
We have multiple tools for achieving this goal. Depending on your condition and preferences, we may use a quick manual adjustment, an activator, gentle joint mobilization, or even specific therapeutic exercises. If you prefer not to be adjusted or have hesitations, please let us know so that we can talk about your options.

FIRST VISIT
Initial visits generally last about 60 minutes.
During your first exam, your practitioner will take a detailed health history. You may be asked a wide range of questions about your symptoms, digestion, exercise, sleep habits, emotional states, and anything that may offer insight into your health. Next, a very thorough physical exam will be performed looking at your body as a whole. This often includes a trial of specific “first aid” rehab exercises based on the findings of the history and physical exam.
Once your practitioner has gathered enough information, you’ll receive a comprehensive treatment plan including treatment on this first visit.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY FIRST SPORTS MEDICINE APPOINTMENT?
We recommend you wear comfortable clothing that allows for lots of movement. Please eat a little something prior to your treatment and hydrate (as always!).
